Founder Story

My name is Maxine Noel

In 2020, I decided to start LinguaElite after years teaching both online and in the classroom. I decided to start my own company because I believed there was a better and more effective way to help my students. Not through apps that turn language learning into a game without producing real fluency. Not through marketplaces where students scroll through hundreds of anonymous profiles hoping to find someone competent. I wanted to build a school where every student is matched with a teacher who genuinely fits their needs, where lessons are planned and structured rather than improvised, and where quality is consistent because I personally oversee who teaches and how.

In 2023, I registered LinguaElite in the United Kingdom to formalise the standards we had already been working to and offer our students more flexible payment methods. Today, we teach students from ten countries, with teachers based across three continents, and every student still receives the same personal attention they would have received when it was just me and a handful of learners.

My background is in Psychology, which shaped how I approach teaching more than any TEFL course could. I understand how people learn, what builds confidence, and why some students progress quickly while others feel stuck. Every lesson I plan is informed by that understanding. It is also why I take the matching process so seriously. The right teacher for a seven-year-old in Hong Kong is not the same as the right teacher for an engineer preparing for IELTS. Getting that pairing right is the first step in getting results.

Meet the Team

Our teachers hold qualifications in a variety of disciplines. Three hold psychology-related qualifications. All our teachers hold higher level teaching certifications with specialisations, university degrees, and have work experience outside of the education sector, ensuring our students receive an education from knowledgeable teachers. They are all native-English speakers based in South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Bachelor's in Psychology and Criminology (Hons). TEFL Certified.

Founder and lead teacher. Kids, teens, adults, and exam preparation across all types. Has taught students across multiple countries and brings an international perspective to every lesson. Her psychology background informs how she approaches each student, from building confidence in shy young learners to structuring IELTS preparation around how adults retain and apply new skills under pressure. Personally oversees teacher matching and quality across the school.

Kids Teacher

Aimee | United Kingdom

Bachelor's in Psychology. TEFL Certified.

Kids and teens specialist. A decade of classroom experience and a genuine understanding of how young learners develop. Her psychology background informs how she structures lessons, builds confidence, and adapts her approach to each child's learning style. Creates an engaging, supportive environment where children and teenagers feel comfortable progressing at their own pace.

Adults Teacher

Nancy | United States of America

Doctor of Medicine. TEFL Certified

Nancy's medical background gives her a depth of professional experience that is rare in English teaching. Her scientific training means she is precise, thorough, and particularly effective with students who need English for academic, medical, or scientific purposes. Students describe her pronunciation as very clear and neutral, which is especially valued by learners developing a standard international accent.

Adults / IELTS Preparation

Candace | United States of America

Bachelor's in Communication Design, minor in Psychology.

TEFL Certified.

Candace has taught students across four continents. Her background in communication design gives her a particular strength in helping students structure their ideas clearly, whether in writing or in conversation. Her teaching style is relaxed and student-led. Candace specialises in IELTS preparation and her students have seen great success.

Adults & Business English

Lauren | United States of America

Bachelor's in Anthropology. CELTA Certified.

Business English specialist. Before moving into English teaching, Lauren built a 25-year career in policy advocacy, strategic planning, communications, and nonprofit fundraising. That professional depth means she teaches business English through real experience, not textbook scenarios. She understands how professionals communicate across cultures because she has spent decades doing it herself.
