Refund and Cancellation Policy

LinguaElite Ltd ("the Company," "we," "us," "our") is committed to providing quality online English tutoring services. We understand that flexibility is important and we aim to accommodate our students' needs. This policy outlines the terms for rescheduling, cancelling, and requesting refunds for our services.

Cancellation and Rescheduling

Student cancellations

Students may reschedule or cancel a class at no charge by providing at least 24 hours' notice via email (admin@linguaelite.com) or WhatsApp.

If a student cancels or fails to attend a class with less than 24 hours' notice, the class will be forfeited without a refund or credit, except in the following circumstances:

  • Medical emergency or unexpected illness

  • Natural disaster

  • Unexpected power outage

  • Unexpected internet outage

In these cases, the student should notify us as soon as possible with a brief explanation of the circumstances. We will reschedule the class at a mutually convenient time. We reserve the right to request supporting evidence in cases of repeated late cancellations.

Teacher cancellations

If a teacher cancels a class for any reason, the class will be rescheduled at a time convenient for both the student and the teacher. If rescheduling is not possible, the class will be credited back to the student's package.

Company cancellations

In exceptional circumstances (such as platform outages or teacher emergencies), the Company may cancel a scheduled class. Affected classes will be rescheduled or credited to the student's package.

Refund Policy

Trial classes

Trial class fees (£3.75 or local currency equivalent) are non-refundable.

Class packages (10-class and 20-class)

Students may request a refund for unused classes within their package, subject to the following terms:

  • Refund requests must be made within 90 days of the original purchase date.

  • The refund amount is calculated by deducting the cost of classes already taken at the full single-class rate (£16.50 per class) from the total amount paid. The remaining balance is refunded.

  • After 90 days from the date of purchase, packages are non-refundable. Unused classes remain available until the package expires (12 months from the date of purchase, as stated in our Terms and Conditions).

  • Packages that have expired (after 12 months) are not eligible for a refund.

Example: A student purchases a 20-class package for £297 and uses 5 classes before requesting a refund within 90 days. The 5 classes are charged at the full single-class rate: 5 x £16.50 = £82.50. The refund amount is £297 minus £82.50 = £214.50.

IELTS Strategy Intensive

  • Refund requests made before the first session will receive a full refund.

  • Once the first session has taken place, the course is non-refundable. This is because the IELTS Strategy Intensive is a structured, sequential programme and the value of each session depends on the course as a whole.

Essay marking add-ons

  • Refunds are available for unmarked essays only.

  • Once an essay has been marked and returned to the student, the fee for that essay is non-refundable.

  • To request a refund for unmarked essays, contact us at admin@linguaelite.com.

Extended or custom packages

For packages of 30 classes or more purchased on request, refund terms will be agreed in writing at the time of purchase. If no specific terms were agreed, the standard class package refund policy above applies.

Teacher Reassignment

If a student is dissatisfied with their assigned teacher, we encourage them to contact us at admin@linguaelite.com. We will reassign the student to a different teacher at no additional cost. Teacher reassignment is available at any time during an active package and does not require a refund request.

We believe this is a better outcome for the student than a refund, as it allows learning to continue without interruption.

How Refunds Are Processed

All approved refunds are processed via Stripe to the original payment method. Refunds typically appear within 5 to 14 business days, depending on the payment method and the student's bank or payment provider.

Please note that refund processing times may vary for payments made via Alipay, WeChat Pay, or Klarna, as these are subject to the processing timelines of the respective payment providers. The Company will initiate the refund promptly, but the time it takes to appear in the student's account may differ.

Payment Disputes

If a student disputes a payment through their payment provider (such as a credit card company, Alipay, WeChat Pay, or Klarna), the Company will work with the payment provider to resolve the dispute in accordance with the provider's policies and procedures.

We encourage students to contact us directly at admin@linguaelite.com before initiating a payment dispute, as we are often able to resolve concerns more quickly through direct communication.

Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated from time to time. When changes are made, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify affected students via email. The policy in effect at the time of your purchase applies to that purchase.
