One of the only IELTS preparation programmes in the world designed specifically for native English speakers.
IELTS Strategy Intensive
for Native English Speakers
You speak English every day.
But IELTS is not testing whether you can simply speak English. It is testing whether you can perform under exam conditions, meet specific scoring criteria, and write structured essays in formats most native speakers have never encountered.
Not sure if this is for you?
Why native speakers score lower than they expect
You need an IELTS score for immigration to Canada, Australia, or New Zealand, for professional registration, or a visa. You assumed the test would be straightforward because English is your first language.
Here is what the data says: native English speakers average just 6.9 on IELTS Academic overall. Writing scores drop to 6.3. German speakers average 7.4. Polish speakers average 7.0. Native speakers are being outperformed by people who learned English as a second language.
The gap is not about fluency. It is about exam technique. IELTS Writing has specific structural requirements that have nothing to do with how well you write in real life. The Reading section uses True, False, and Not Given distinctions that trip up even fluent readers. The Speaking test rewards a register shift from conversational to analytical that most people are never taught.
Every retake costs over £200 (over R6,200) and delays your timeline by weeks.
A failed IELTS attempt costs more than money.
It costs another £200 (about R6,000) in test fees, plus weeks of delay on your visa timeline, and the stress of preparing again while your deadline gets closer.
The preparation course costs less than a single retake.
Test strategy,
not language lessons
No grammar drills. No vocabulary lists. No pronunciation exercises.
Every session focuses on exam technique and scoring criteria.
Session 1: Full test overview and band descriptor deep-dive. You leave knowing exactly what examiners score and where native speakers lose marks.
Session 2: Live feedback on your first essay (written without instruction) plus Writing Task 1 strategy. The section most native speakers have never encountered.
Session 3: Writing Task 2 strategy. The five essay types, planning templates, and the Task Response criterion that accounts for 25% of your Writing score.
Session 4: Reading and Listening tactics. True/False/Not Given logic, time management, and prediction techniques for Listening Sections 3 and 4.
Session 5: Speaking performance strategy. Part 2 planning, Part 3 register shift, and a full mock Speaking test with immediate scoring.
Session 6: Final essay review, score prediction across all four sections, and complete exam-day strategy.

FAQ
I am a native speaker. Why do I need IELTS prep? IELTS tests specific exam skills that most native speakers have never practised: academic essay structure, data description in a prescribed format, and timed performance under conditions you have not experienced since school. The data shows native speakers average 6.9 overall and 6.3 on Writing. Preparation closes the gap between your fluency and your score.
How long does preparation take? The course runs over three weeks with two sessions per week. Most students also spend 2 to 3 hours per week on independent practice between sessions. Adjustments can be made to fit with your deadlines.
What score can I realistically expect? That depends on your starting point and target. We will be honest with you from Session 1 about what is achievable in your timeframe. Most native speakers who complete the course see measurable improvement, particularly in Writing.
Which IELTS should I take, Academic or General Training? It depends on your purpose. Academic is for university admission and most professional registrations. General Training is for immigration (Canada Express Entry, Australian skilled visas, New Zealand). We cover both formats.
Can you help with just one section? Yes. If Writing is your only concern, we can focus the sessions accordingly. Your teacher adapts the course to your specific needs.
Do you offer this course for non-native speakers? Yes. Our standard IELTS preparation course is designed for non-native speakers and covers language development alongside exam strategy. [Link to IELTS Preparation on Courses page →]
