Get the IELTS Band Score You Need

1:1 online IELTS preparation with a dedicated teacher who builds every lesson around your target score.

What is IELTS
and why does it matter?

IELTS is the International English Language Testing System. It measures your ability to use English across four skills: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. Scores range from Band 1 (non-user) to Band 9 (expert user), and the score you need depends entirely on what you are using it for.

Universities, immigration authorities, and professional bodies each set their own requirements. Some care about your overall band score. Others require a minimum in each individual section, which means a strong Listening score cannot compensate for a weak Writing score. Understanding exactly what your target institution or programme requires is the first step in preparing effectively.

What Our Course Covers

✓ Writing: Learn the structures that score well in Task 1 and Task 2. Get your essays reviewed with detailed feedback against the official band descriptors. Practise writing under timed conditions so you walk into the exam knowing exactly what to do.

✓ Speaking: Build fluency and confidence through regular practice with a native English-speaking teacher. Learn how to expand your answers naturally, use a range of vocabulary without overreaching, and handle Part 3 discussion questions with structure and depth.

✓ Reading: Develop strategies for managing your time across three passages. Learn how to approach each question type, including the True/False/Not Given questions that require literal rather than interpretive reading.

✓ Listening: Train your ear for academic English. Learn prediction techniques that help you catch answers the first time, especially in the more demanding Sections 3 and 4 where speakers use complex paraphrasing and distraction answers.

✓ Exam technique: Beyond the four skills, we teach you how the test works: the scoring criteria, the time management strategies, the common traps, and the specific habits that distinguish a Band 6 response from a Band 7. This is what most self-study misses.

If you are a native or near-native English speaker who needs IELTS for immigration or professional registration, our standard preparation course may not be the right fit for you.

We have built a separate course specifically for fluent speakers who need test strategy, not language lessons.

FAQ

How long does IELTS preparation take? That depends on your starting level and your target band. A student at Band 5.0 aiming for Band 6.5 will typically need more sessions than a student at Band 6.0 aiming for Band 7.0. Your teacher will assess your level during the trial class and give you an honest recommendation.

Which IELTS should I take, Academic or General Training? Academic is for university admission and most professional registrations. General Training is for immigration (Canada Express Entry, Australian skilled visas, New Zealand Skilled Migrant Category). If you need a UK visa, you must take IELTS for UKVI specifically.

Can I focus on just one section? Yes. If Writing is your main concern, your teacher can weight your sessions accordingly. Many students spend more time on Writing and Speaking (the two sections that benefit most from teacher feedback) and practise Reading and Listening independently between sessions.

How often should I have classes? Most students take two to three sessions per week alongside independent practice. Your teacher will recommend a schedule based on your test date and how much work is needed.

What materials do you use? We use established IELTS preparation textbooks for structure and progression, adapted with real Cambridge practice tests and current materials. Your teacher provides everything you need.

What happens after I finish my package? Packages can be renewed at any time. If your teacher feels you are ready before completing all your sessions, they will tell you. If you need more time, you can add another package without interruption.

What is the One Skill Retake? Since 2023, IELTS has offered the option to retake just one section of the test if you score well on three sections but fall short on one. This must be done within 60 days of your original test. It is available for Academic and General Training (paper and computer-based) but not all UKVI tests.
